Temptation Thursday

I just got back from one of my favorite LYS Twisted, it is such a great store and it's kid friendly. I met my friend Sarah with her little boy Miles there. It was a lot of fun, Miles was talkative and adorable. The staff was friendly, understanding, and knowledgeable.
As we were walking around the store I spotted a yarn that totally made me stop... I had to touch it, feel it, smell it, look at it longingly.

The yarn was Mirasol, Sulka.

It is gorgeous!  It is made of 60% merino, 20% alpaca, and 20% silk, all of this equals to a lofty worsted weight yarn that is just absolutely delicious. I can easily see making a nice, warm, thick cowl out of this yarn. Actually this yarn would be perfect for a pattern design that I have in mind! OH VAY! the pain of having a design in mind but not the "perfect" yarn. This yarn absolutely takes the price for being the most tempting yarn of the week. Congrats Mirasol, Sulka... you win! I'm extremely tempted!

Temptation Thursday

My temptation today is something... err...what can I say... uhmmm... that I have.
The yarn is Road to China light, Color: Hermatite

It is composed of 65% Baby Alpaca, 15% Silk, 10% Camel, and 10% Cashmere. All of this equals to the softest yarn imaginable.
At the beginning of this post I mentioned that I have this yarn. I"m planning to make a special hat. I think for the first time in a while I can surely say that I"m falling more in love with my stash. I fell in love with a yarn that I have. I feel satisfied.

Temptation Thursday

This Thursday my temptation is a yarn that I have been working with on a super extra secret project. It is beautiful and I love the feel of it.

The yarn is Shibui Staccato in the color Ivory. I love the color of this yarn and how shiny it is.  I can't wait to get a couple of skeins of this yarn and make myself a pair of nice socks, or a shawl, or a sweater. The options are endless!!!

Temptation Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011

This Thursday there isn't a yarn that's going to be featured since my wonderful hubby and I are in Boston, Massachusetts. So no knit night for me although there was a lot of knitting on the 6 hour flight;  along with a very rough chart and design for a pattern that I have in mind. I can't wait for all of you to see it.
Here are some pictures from Boston, it was a great city.

It was a truly enjoyable trip. It was nice to get away and relax for a few but I truly did miss those individuals that I see on a daily basis. I'm glad to be home. Thank Boston for a good time.

Sooo...
I know I haven't been as good for posting. Sorry about that. On February 3rd, I stumbled into a yarn that totally caught me buy surprise. So much that it almost caused a riot between my knitting girlfriends and I since I was soooo tempted by it.
Here it is..

Yarn: Auracania Yarns, Trauco
It is 100% Cashmere and 321 yards of pure bliss.  Wish I could have you yarn... you are going on my list for next year.

Temptation Thursday 01/27/11

Yarn: Madelinetosh lace   Color: Oxblood

To make what?  Featherweight Cardigan
Two skeins are more than enough to make a cardigan. The color is so beautiful, the softness, the generous yardage per skein, the feel to the skin. Oh Madelinetosh! Why are your yarns sooo freaking amazing! WHYYY?????

Miracles do happen!

In a past post I  was sad because I had made a hat and ran out of yarn. I called "911" to all of my knitting girlfriends.  I received a wonderful present from my friend Lindsay.

A whole entire skein of Malabrigo worsted in Polar Morn

Now to finish that wonderful hat. Thanks Lindsay!

Temptation Thursday 01/13/2011

This thursday the knitting divas (my wonderful knitting girlfriends) had our Christmas party. Last year around October we all drew names to make each other a well loved hand knit present.
I made Katrin 198 yards of heaven. Made with Rowan Lima in the color Andes. Very yummy!

She in return made me the most amazing mittens! I'm sooo excited about them!
She made the Druid Mittens  by Jared Flood! I LOVE Jared Flood. He's probably one of my top 10 designers. These gloves are amazingly warm!

Please excuse the cheesy picture but I just can't do anything else but smile when I look, touch, or even think about these gloves. So in love. Sigh... If I get Katrin this year again for Christmas my present is going to be wayyyyy better.  It's a promise Katrin.

Left over yarn... failure!

So I had some left over Malabrigo worsted, in the color Polar Morn. I love this color sooooo much. I think it is beautiful yarn. Before I started this adventure (not buying yarn) I almost bought another skein, but decided against it since I "had" enough to make a hat....
Well here are the results of that logic

Pattern: Meret by Woolly Wormhead.

The result of this adventure... I'm on at the beginning of row 7 of the decrease chart. Only 7 more rounds to go... and these are the decrease rounds, and I'm pretty much out of yarn... I don't even have enough to even try to make it.
Because of my challenge for the year 2011 and I can't buy yarn to finish it, this is the outcome.

A hat... 7 rows away from being done... In a quart size zip lock bag, waiting to be done on 01.01.2012

OHH! Such cruel fate! This made me want to make an exception to my challenge... but hey! a challenge is a challenge right?! I can do it!!!!!

First FO of 2011

My wonderful friend Nate wanted me to make a hat for him. About four months ago I made the Windschief  by Stephen West for my husband, and he wanted the same one!  It is such a great "guy" hat.  So I"m glad this is my first FO of the year 2011.

Here is a picture of it blocking. Love balloons, they are great for blocking hats.
Yarn: Rowan Purelife DK
Needles : US 5 and US 6

Dec. 31, 2010

SOOOOOO..... Today is actually the last day to shop... right? It is after-all still 2010. I couldn't help it, I had to stop by knit purl and pick up some "necessary" yarns. I"m so thankful that I have such an amazing husband, he drove straight to Knit Purl with no complains.
Here are the last ( I do mean it this time!!!) yarns that I will purchase for at least six months.
Shown: Joseph Galler (Prime Alpaca), The Fibre company (Canopy), Rowan (Lima), and Handmaiden (Bess).
I think these were needed... don't you?

Dec. 30, 2010

Knit night at Knit Purl...
Last day to shop. Here is a photo of the beautiful things that I got...
Ahhh... so in LOVE! Yarns in this photo include: Madelinetosh (Pashmina, Worsted, and Sock), Shelter, Mirasol (Ushya), Rowan (Lima), Handmaiden (Bess), Joseph Galler (Prime Alpaca) and Rowan Purelife DK.
I have to say it... I"m so glad these yarns are in my stash now.
This is my last shopping spree... Wish me luck..

December 29, 2010

Let me start by saying... I have a GORGEOUS stash, and when I say gorgeous I mean it! It is filled of beautiful yarns, with a wonderful craft room.

Isn't it gorgeous! SIGHH..... Fully in love.

This last year I realized that I love the yarns that I have, but I haven't knit with them because I always keep on falling in love. Every time I walk in to my LYS (Knit Purl) I fall in love with another beautiful skein again.

So this is my new year's resolution: To not buy any new yarns for at least six months (I"m hoping I can do it for a year). I REFUSE to call it a yarn diet.  I will call it re-falling in love with my stash. Therefore the title of my blog... For the LOVE of stash!
